What is Syndactyly?

It is the condition of two or more fingers sticking together. At a certain stage of development in the womb the fingers separate from each other. Here is a situation that occurs as a result of the complete or partial hesitation of this separation.

Syndactyly can occur alone, in one hand, or in both hands and feet. In some cases, a genetic reason forms a part of a disease . In such cases, cleft palate, cleft palate, cleft palate, skull, bb3b-cf58d 7819 in patients, cc3b3b-783194 It may be associated with native problems such as 136bad5cf58d_ . (Like Apert Syndrome).

Syndactyls  generally divided into two as simple and complicated. In simple syndactyly, adhesion is only at the skin level. There is no problem in bones and tendons. Finger movements are perfect. In complicated syndactyly, there are different degrees of unions, especially in bones, apart from volt. In severe cases, there may also be problems with vessels and nerves.

The treatment of syndactyly is surgery. The best time for surgery is determined by the patient's condition. If the attached fingers do not prevent each other's movements and especially their growth 1.5 years old. The main reason for this wait is that patient will receive general anesthesia. If the adhesions of the fingers prevent each other from growing, cause bending in their axis, and the independent movements of the index finger are prevented, surgery should be performed without waiting. Thumb adhesions should be acted on much earlier. It is preferred that the surgeries be completed by the age of 2.5 years. When there is more than one adhesion, separating all the fingers at once can cause serious problems. Fingers should be gradually separated.
